On September 23, Grace Cathedral hosted Yoga for Change, to benefit The Community Preschool. Thank you to our community of socially-minded supporters for sharing a morning of yoga, led by our special guest instructors and musicians. With your help, we raised $36,000 to support this vital and transformative early childhood education. Namaste.

Meet the Instructors

Alison Cardenas, Yoga Alliance certified ERYT200, RYT500, & YACEP, has been teaching yoga for over ten years and is the head yoga teacher at a chain of studios in the East Bay. She loves teaching all styles of yoga from vinyasa to yin to aerial… and everything in between.

Darren Main has been teaching Yoga for over 30 years. He has been our primary Yoga Teacher for over ten years. He is an author and speaker on mindful living topics.

Europa (Ro) Grace (they/them) has been teaching yoga and mindfulness for over a decade. They are a multi-disciplinary artist, audio described, and cultural competency consultant.

Meet the Musicians

Destiny Muhammad is a recording/performing artist in the singer-songwriter fashion on Harp. Her genre 'Celtic to Coltrane' is cool and eclectic with a feel of Jazz & storytelling to round out the sonic experience. Destiny has opened for The Oakland East Bay Symphony, shared the stage with Jazz Masters Calvin Keyes, Marcus Shelby, Omar Sosa, Ambrose Akisemuire, and Jazz Divas Diane Witherspoon & Denise Perrier to name a few. She has also headlined for the 'Women in Jazz' Concert series in San Francisco. Destiny is Governor Emeritus and Educational Chair Emeritus of the Recording Academy, Jazz Heritage Center of San Francisco Jazz Ambassador, and an ASCAP Songwriter Awardee.

Egemen, also known as Ege, is a contemporary dervish who embarks on a journey to discover his own unique sound in world music while proudly representing his Turkish heritage. He skillfully blends various ethnic instruments such as the sitar, caglama, saz, santoor, ud, ngoni, kora, flutes, and more to create an enchanting and rejuvenating experience for his listeners. With a mastery of traditional Eastern ragas, he infuses his lively improvisations with beats, loops, and synths to further enhance the hypnotic atmosphere of his music. Based in San Francisco, Ege frequently performs in the Bay Area and is also a certified yoga teacher.
